In Philadelphia, almost one-third of all kids grow up in poverty. That’s more than in most major U.S. cities.
For these young people, after-school and summer programs are essential—they offer a safe place to go, help with problem-solving, and the chance to learn and grow. But many families can't afford them, and the number of programs available keeps shrinking.
The big problem is cost. When programs cost money, the kids who need them most are often left out. This keeps the cycle of poverty going.
That's why ADI is committed to keeping our programs absolutely free for families. We want to tear down that cost barrier, fight against unfair disadvantages, and make sure every single young person has the support they need to succeed. We believe: Every kid is a contender!
